If you have attended an opening at the Huw Davies Gallery there's a good chance you have met Sari Sutton. Sari has participated in countless PhotoAccess workshops and exhibitions over the years. In 2019 she exhibited in both chapters of the Life in the Landscape. We've been privileged to have front row seats seeing her photographic style evolve. Below Sari shares some recent work from her travels to Kolkata, India.
In my photographs, I was seeking to capture a sense of this complexity and promise, of the dynamic tension between past, present and future, between deeply embedded ritual and emerging individual agency – and a sense of being suspended, as an outsider, in the midst of an unfolding, absurd and fleeting drama.
